Hi all, about two years ago I published a post titled The lonely expat problem: Making friends is harder than it looks which resonated with so many expats out there. Frankly, it was sad and surprising to know that so many of you were experiencing the same thing I was and also comforting at the same time to know I wasn’t alone in what I was going through. Lonely in France colorful Not every day is a good day. Loneliness is one of the biggest challenges expats face. Truth: It’s hard to make friends as an adult! Especially when you’re new to an area. From a different culture. In a different language. In fact, a survey conducted by Barclays International Banking concluded that 44% of expats in France say loneliness is the biggest hurdle to overcome.
