life lessons from my dog

Learning is a constant process whether we realize it or not. From school, work, people around us, to books and more, we never stop learning. But has your dog taught you anything lately? While dogs aren’t human, they do know a whole lot about life. Maybe at first glance their wagging tail, questionable napping habits and relentless desire for treats would lead you to believe otherwise, but after thinking it through, my dog Dagny has taught me a lot about the important things in life.

Here are 6 life lessons I learned from my dog!

Dagny finds the weirdest things on walks… what the heck is that thing?

Written by Diane. Posted in on Dagny the dog, on life in France

On any given day, Dagny and I go on about three walks and almost always, she finds something to be proud of. She’ll scrounge around for pieces of bread that were left by neighbors for the birds, other times we’ve encountered a lost dog and sometimes she’ll find a dead worm to roll in. And the common thread here is that I know what all of those things are. They’re normal. But the other night, Dagny found something on our walk that freaked me out at first and then I realized what she had found was alive. It looked familiar yet I had never seen one….

A dog’s perspective: Dagny takes over the blog

Hi guys, Dagny here. If you don’t know me, I’m that lovable, furry black thing that you sometimes see here on the blog, aka the dog. My mom went out for a bit, so I figured I’d open up that laptop thing that she stares at all day long and see if she keeps my treats in there. But first, I know my mom did a photo post a while back on where we live if you want to see her pics, but I never see any of those things down at my level. You see, I’m little and the world looks very different when you’re down low like I am. I’ll show you the real deal.

Let me take you on my own photo tour of where we live, which I’m told is this place called France. It’s pretty great…

Let’s go!

Tips on getting a lost dog to safety (and how Dagny saved the day)

Written by Diane. Posted in on Dagny the dog, on everything else

Tired after a  hard day's work...

The French love their pets — no one will debate that. But when loose dogs roam the streets, either because they’re lost or just out for a careless stroll, it seems that passersby don’t really seem to care. So earlier this week when I was out walking Dagny, we came across a soaking wet Bernese Mountain Dog who appeared to be lost. And because I’m the type of person that always helps, I couldn’t just turn my back on him and let him fend for himself and probably get hit by a car. I used Dagny to help get him safely to the neighborhood vet. And yes, this story ends well.

Here’s how Dagny and I helped… and my tips on getting a lost dog to safety.
