Things that make me ridiculously happy (1)

Sometimes focusing on the positives in your life is enough to turn your day around and squash a bad mood or just get your mind off all the craziness in the world. It can also shift your perspective and remind you that life is good. So after having so much fun with Part 1, I’m back for Part 2 of things that make me happy.

GO!

Things that make me happy – Part 2

  1. Having my dog Dagny in my life.
  2. A lazy weekend with no set plans.
  3. These gorgeous Les Interchangeables bracelets made with Swarovski crystals. Finally bought one during les soldes and it makes me smile.
  4. Biting into a chocolate chip cookie still mushy from coming out of the oven — a little bit undercooked.
  5. Walking Dagny with Tom.
  6. Getting lost in the aisles of Super Target. That place has everything!
  7. Receiving an unexpected compliment.
  8. When something you have listed on eBay sells for more than you expected.
  9. Discovering new places to visit both near and far.
  10. Seeing that someone didn’t mess up plurals and possessives in their writing… and other little grammar wins. (On the other hand, saying you “have three cat’s” drives me up the wall.)

    blogging makes me happy

  11. Blogging. I love this space I’ve created on the web. Thank you for being here.
  12. A big glass of freshly brewed, unsweetened iced tea with a big straw.
  13. When Tom surprises me with a lottery ticket. You never know!
  14. Having a clutter-free house. That lasts about 1 day.
  15. When someone notices you for the person you really are.
  16. Going to the beach in the winter wearing a cozy hoodie and just watching the waves.
  17. The feeling of accomplishment you have right after finishing a really challenging workout.
  18. Boarding a flight and knowing you’re going somewhere fun.
  19. Seeing Tom turn into a giddy 5-year-old when talking about these said fun things we’re going to do on vacation.

    being on a boat

  20. Being on a boat enjoying a late afternoon breeze.
  21. Finding money in an old jacket pocket.
  22. Good hair days.
  23. Taking advantage of a killer promo at one of my favorite stores. Love Athleta to death.
  24. The smell of clothes fresh out of the dryer.
  25. Getting good news.
  26. Snapping a candid photo at just the right moment.
  27. A rainbow after a storm.

***

And there you have it. Share something that makes you happy below, will ya? If you missed Part 1, read it here.

P.S. I’ll see you back here on Thursday for All About France, which is a fun France-focused link up I’m hosting for Phoebe while she’s on vacation. Hope to see you there!

What an upbeat way to start a Monday! I snorted my coffee at #10–with you all the way on that. And on so many others.
I would add: holding a baby; hugs from mine; having a complicated new recipe turn out on the first try even though I maybe didn’t follow the directions exactly; hot summer days that start with cool, crips mornings.

Thank you for sharing some of yours (or hahaha should i write your’s?). 😉 Yes, so about #10, I see random apostrophes everywhere and it’s one thing if it’s a typo. Everyone makes mistakes and a simple slip of the finger when typing fast is no big deal. But when English is your first language and you don’t know the difference? Major pet peeve. It’s not that hard to know that I have 3 cats is not the same as I have 3 cat’s. AHHHHHHHHHH ok stopping now.

Love your list Diane ! Some things that make me happy are: eating dark chocolate; watching A French Village; walking my dog, writing letters; receiving letters; reading; and doing my tangle a day (Zentangle); and getting through my yoga class (that’s always a challenge). There is one more for the very top of my list. It’s when some one really listens to me. And when I really listen to another person too.

Ah yes, the greengrocer’s apostrophe. I’m sure I must have been guilty of this over the years but it would have been a typo…I DO know the difference.
My pet peeve is people that say ‘would of’ instead of ‘would have’. Sorry gone slightly off topic there.
How do you pronounce Dagny btw? Donyee?

No, Dag-knee. How an American would say it. 😉

Ah yes, #10. When you receive a Christmas card from “The Smith’s”…how does this happen? 🙂 Or a card addressed to “The Cochran’s”…

It’s better to focus on the list that makes one happy! How about a freshly opened package of Oreo cookies…

Yes, that is one you see a LOT. I have to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it was just a typo, although that’s probably not the case. Just terrible!

Thanks so much Todd. That really means a lot. And I know you’ve been reading for several years now. What’s your favorite part about France? Maybe I can do a special post focusing on whatever that is. 😉 Going to check out the link. Thx again

Now I really want a chocolate chip cookie. The beach in winter is highly underrated! Where I’m from, temperatures are mild year round, so the beach is for walking your dog, watching the waves, and squishing the sand between your toes while fully clothed (too cold for bikinis most of the year!)

I tutored writing in college and I was so shocked when I encountered college freshmen who did not know what an apostrophe was for. Aaaaahhhh!!!!!!!!

I love the feeling when you clean up your home and have a nice, calm, uncluttered, space (for like, a day). I also love reading with my coffee in the morning under a fuzzy blanket. That’s the best!
